Playing lottery is a quick way to become an instant millionaire. Despite the fact that the chance of winning is very small, you will not win if you do not buy a ticket. However if you buy one, at least you will have a chance, right? All investments carry some degree of risk, and lottery is among the highest risk of losing. Nevertheless, it’s still an investment….only with high odds of losing. You just have to be prepared for that fact.
I don’t play lotto 649 very often, because I don’t win anything big in my life yet. When I play, the jackpot must be at least $15-$20 millions range and I restrict myself to one $2 ticket each time.
Here are three rules on how I pick my numbers to increase my chance of winning.
- Rule #1: Do NOT pick the same set of numbers that were winning numbers previously. A simple and yet important rule. As of today, none of the winning numbers are the same. If you decide to pick one of the previous winning numbers, your chance of winning is most likely decreased. You can check all the winning numbers from Day 1 here. The statistics is in excel file format, so you can easily manipulate the data in ascending/descending orders.
- Rule #2: If three or more numbers of your current combination match the latest drawing combination, you’d better pick different numbers for the next draw. For example, the latest draw is 01 07 16 23 35 49 and your pick is 01 14 16 35 48 49. In this case 01 16 49 are the same, which means you win $10 for the latest draw; however, you may want to change at least one of these three numbers to something else. The chance of having these three same numbers to appear in the next draw is possible but highly unlikely.
- Rule #3: This rule is optional. You may want to try it or ignore it. The rule is…sometimes one of the six numbers from the latest draw will reappear in the next draw. If your pick has one same number as the latest draw, great. If not, it’s ok too. Usually I play the same set of numbers over and over again. I use this rule only when I run into difficulty in picking my next six numbers, should circumstances such as rule #2 force me to pick different numbers.
How about you? How do you choose your lotto numbers?
