What’s the Freecycle Network?

The Freecycle Network – www.freecycle.org – is an online community where members give out items for free in a hope somebody else will be able to use or recycle the items. It’s absolutely free to join. First of all, you have to find out if there is local freecycle group in the town/city where you live. Simply browse through the database on freecycle website. Once you find your local group, click it to join. You will have to provide your Yahoo username to log in.

Everyday there are always people who want to get rid of things they don’t need any more, and the stuff is usually still useful or usable. If you find something interesting, you simply contact that member and arrange a time/location to pick it up.

I have joined the local freecycle network for a few months now. Because I’m renting a place and don’t feel like buying any big items which may cause inconvenience if I decide to move again later, I join freecycle website to get a bicycle. As a result I got a used mountain bike. Sweet. :D
